New Library Service: Students can now book appointments for research help
UCW News Team | August 15, 2018
In the final weeks of last semester, some of you were able to try out the UCW Library’s new service for one-on-one, 30-minute appointments with a librarian for research help. These appointments are booked ahead of time by email and allow you to get personalized help in the areas you need it most.
After testing the service and assessing its effectiveness based on your feedback, we are happy to report that it was a great success. The library will continue to offer the service to you throughout this semester.
So, if you need help finding articles for a specific assignment, learning how to conduct research or working on your APA citations, this service is for you. UCW librarians will be delighted to set aside a time for you so we can work together to improve your research.
Your fellow UCW students who took part in the service reported:
“I found a better way… to research assignments”
“I learned methods to be more efficient in searching databases”
“I got research articles that will prove helpful in my research paper”
UCW instructors have also endorsed this service and have even noticed an improvement in students’ work after they attended individual appointments. One UCW instructor noted that his students improved in the clarity of their arguments, used stronger sources and developed a more focused paper topic which resulted in HIGHER GRADES on their assignments.
Appointments are available from 3:00 pm-7:30 pm in regular weeks (final appointment 7:00 pm-7:30 pm) and 3:00 pm-8:30 pm during extended hours (final appointment 8:00pm-8:30pm).
You may need this service if you’ve written a paper, but are unsure if it’s in correct APA style, if you’ve found sources for an assignment but don’t know if they’re relevant to your topic, if you don’t know how to start searching with the Library databases, or if you need help with anything else related to research or assignments.
Book your appointment now by emailing email@example.com and telling us what you need help with. You won’t regret it
